Vote for Penelope B. Hunt

I am running for election to the Newport School Committee because I am a passionate believer in public education. I will work toward high-quality public education for all students and financial sustainability for the district. 

During my twenty year career working in both the nonprofit and financial services sectors, I have developed skills in relationship building and financial analysis.  Since becoming a parent, I have learned humility, patience and grace. 

I attended Newport Public Schools and now I am a NPS parent.  I am inspired by the experiences I had while attending NPS and I am seeking the opportunity to give back and support Newport’s families.

  • Rogers High School Class of 1999

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy (Education concentration) from Brown University

  • Masters in Business Administration from Boston University

  • 21 years of career experience in the nonprofit and banking sectors

  • Served on City of Newport committee to develop the Two Tier Residential Property Tax Program

  • Board member, Newport Little League

  • Parent of two children at Pell Elementary School
